A Husband's Amazing Response To 'She's A Stay-At-Home Mom? What Does She DO All Day?'
A Husband's Amazing Response To 'She's A Stay-At-Home Mom? What Does She DO All Day?'
Posted on February 12, 2014
Matt Walsh is tired of people telling him how lucky his wife is to be a stay-at-home mom and to not be "working". This is his message to those people:
It's happened twice in a week, and they were both women. Anyone ought
to have more class than this, but women — especially women — should damn
well know better.
Last week, I was at the pharmacy and a friendly lady approached me.
"Matt! How are those little ones doing?"
"Great! They're doing very well, thanks for asking."
"Good to hear. How 'bout your wife? Is she back at work yet?"
"Well she's working hard at home, taking care of the kids. But she's
not going back into the workforce, if that's what you mean."
"Oh fun! That must be nice!"
"Fun? It's a lot of hard work. Rewarding, yes. Fun? Not always."
This one wasn't in-your-face. It was only quietly presumptuous and subversively condescending.
The next incident occurred today at the coffee shop. It started in
similar fashion; a friendly exchange about how things are coming along
with the babies. The conversation quickly derailed when the woman hit me
with this:
"So is your wife staying at home permanently?"
"Permanently? Well, for the foreseeable future she will be raising the kids full time, yes."
"Yeah, mine is 14 now. But I've had a career the whole time as
well. I can't imagine being a stay at home mom. I would get so antsy.
[Giggles] What does she DO all day?"
"Oh, just absolutely everything. What do you do all day?"
"…Me? Ha! I WORK!"
"My wife never stops working. Meanwhile, it's the middle of the
afternoon and we're both at a coffee shop. I'm sure my wife would love
to have time to sit down and drink a coffee. It's nice to get a break,
isn't it?"
The conversation ended less amicably than it began.
Look, I don't cast aspersions on women who work outside of the home. I
understand that many of them are forced into it because they are single
mothers, or because one income simply isn't enough to meet the financial
needs of their family. Or they just choose to work because that's what
they want to do. Fine. I also understand that most "professional" women
aren't rude, pompous and smug, like the two I met recently.
But I don't want to sing Kumbaya right now. I want to kick our
backwards, materialistic society in the shins and say, "GET YOUR
FREAKING HEAD ON STRAIGHT, SOCIETY."
This conversation shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't need to explain
why it's insane for anyone — particularly other women — to have such
contempt and hostility for "stay at home" mothers. Are we really so
shallow? Are we really so confused? Are we really the first culture in
the history of mankind to fail to grasp the glory and seriousness of
motherhood? The pagans deified Maternity and turned it into a goddess.
We've gone the other direction; we treat it like a disease or an
obstacle.
The people who completely immerse themselves in the tiring, thankless,
profoundly important job of raising children ought to be put on a
pedestal. We ought to revere them and admire them like we admire rocket
scientists and war heroes. These women are doing something beautiful and
complicated and challenging and terrifying and painful and joyous and
essential. Whatever they are doing, they ARE doing something, and our civilization DEPENDS on them doing it well. Who else can say such a thing? What other job carries with it such consequences?
It's true — being a mom isn't a "job." A job is something you do for
part of the day and then stop doing. You get a paycheck. You have unions
and benefits and break rooms. I've had many jobs; it's nothing
spectacular or mystical. I don't quite understand why we've elevated
"the workforce" to this hallowed status. Where do we get our idea of it?
The Communist Manifesto? Having a job is necessary for some — it is for
me — but it isn't liberating or empowering. Whatever your job is — you
are expendable. You are a number. You are a calculation. You are a
servant. You can be replaced, and you will be replaced eventually. Am I
being harsh? No, I'm being someone who has a job. I'm being real.
If your mother quit her role as mother, entire lives would be turned
upside down; society would suffer greatly. The ripples of that tragedy
would be felt for generations. If she quit her job as a computer
analyst, she'd be replaced in four days and nobody would care. Same goes
for you and me. We have freedom and power in the home, not the office.
But we are zombies, so we can not see that.
Yes, my wife is JUST a mother. JUST. She JUST brings forth life into
the universe, and she JUST shapes and molds and raises those lives. She
JUST manages, directs and maintains the workings of the household, while
caring for children who JUST rely on her for everything. She JUST
teaches our twins how to be human beings, and, as they grow, she will
JUST train them in all things, from morals, to manners, to the ABC's, to
hygiene, etc. She is JUST my spiritual foundation and the rock on which
our family is built. She is JUST everything to everyone. And society
would JUST fall apart at the seams if she, and her fellow moms, failed
in any of the tasks I outlined.
Yes, she is just a mother. Which is sort of like looking at the sky and saying, "hey, it's justthe sun."
Of course not all women can be at home full time. It's one thing to
acknowledge that; it's quite another to paint it as the ideal. To call
it the ideal, is to claim that children IDEALLY would spend LESS time
around their mothers. This is madness. Pure madness. It isn't ideal, and
it isn't neutral. The more time a mother can spend raising her kids,
the better. The better for them, the better for their souls, the better
for the community, the better for humanity. Period.
Finally, it's probably true that stay at home moms have some down time.
People who work outside the home have down time, too. In fact, there
are many, many jobs that consist primarily of down time, with little
spurts of menial activity strewn throughout. In any case, I'm not
looking to get into a fight about who is "busier." We seem to value our
time so little, that we find our worth based on how little of it we
have. In other words, we've idolized "being busy," and confused it with
being "important." You can be busy but unimportant, just as you can be
important but not busy. I don't know who is busiest, and I don't care.
It doesn't matter. I think it's safe to say that none of us are as busy
as we think we are; and however busy we actually are, it's more than we
need to be.
We get a lot of things wrong in our culture. But, when all is said and
done, and our civilization crumbles into ashes, we are going to most
regret the way we treated mothers and children.

Making Thousands Of Dollars In A Weekend Using A Product Launch Funnel
Making Thousands Of Dollars In A Weekend Using A Product Launch Funnel
Professional bloggers run their blogs like businesses, and every business needs to have a product that it’s selling. That product can be something you created (like the Profit Blogging Blueprint) or an affiliate product (5 secrets to affiliate marketing), but there needs to be something there for your visitors to purchase. Otherwise, you’re just spinning your wheels.Simply putting a link in your blog to the product isn’t going to generate the attention that you want. Only a small percentage of people will see your product, and they won’t be particularly excited about the product that you’ve created. Instead, you want to create a product launch funnel.
What is a product launch funnel?
A product launch funnel is a plan of attack for a product that you’re planning on introducing to the market. Usually, it consists of three phases:
Pre-launch: This is where interest and anticipation are being generated for the product that you’re going to launch. Maybe you’ve got an autoresponder sequence for your mailing list. Perhaps there are videos that highlight the product’s features. Think about what you can do to heighten the appetite your customers have for your product.
Launch: You’ve brought your product to market for a limited time. Since it’s a digital product, there’s always the chance that it will be taken off the market. If you’ve created the proper sequence, most of your sales will be completed within the first two weeks, so you can safely end your sale at that time.
Post-launch: This is the assessment period where you look at the places where you can strengthen your model. Let’s say that you didn’t get enough sales from your Facebook contingent. How would you bolster up those numbers for the next time? Since you can create these product launches at any time, you can supercharge your content for the next time.
One of the most valuable lessons that I learned while creating product launch sales funnels is that the product doesn’t necessarily need to be complete while you are at the beginning of your funnel.
You don’t have to have the product created, but you have to have the sales funnel planned for the product.
Why is this good?
• You can ask for feedback on your product even before it is launched. More feedback makes for a better product.
• You can reward your best customers with mentions in the product that you’re launching, offering them the opportunity to push their involvement with you to the next monetary level.
Where do you start?
Start with a simple series of questions from where you can develop your product launch sales funnel.
• What is my product?
• How much am I selling my product for?
• What will my product do?
• How long is this launch window?
• How long is my pre-sale period?
• Am I doing this alone or with my affiliates?
• Who will benefit from my product?
Having all of these questions asked and answered will give you a better idea of how you can sell your product. The primary question that needs to be answered is about your targeted demographic.
Who is your target audience for this product?
It may be a small subset of the target audience for your blog. Remember that the better that you target the audience, the more sales that you’re likely to make. 90% of bloggers fail to make money because of this.
Create the email campaign around the targeted demographic.
Usually, I like to talk about the upcoming launch over a few separate emails that I send to my gigantic email list.
Three weeks out – The first email – The first email is designed to be a teaser email about what you’re going to be launching. In fact, to generate curiosity, what you can do is be talking about something else, but include the tease for your product in a PS.
Two weeks out – The second email – Get a little more firm about the product, tease it just a little more, giving a bit of light about what they can expect in it. Let’s say that your base wants to make money blogging – in your email, talk about how with this upcoming thing that they can make even more.
One week out – The third email – Still no sales offer, but use this email to mention that it’s a limited time offer and generate some social interest in it by talking about the testimonials that you’ve received from the beta testers. By this time, the product should actually be finished and ready to go.
On the last email, send them to an opt-in page that they can opt-in to a separate email list that talks specifically about the product which is being launched. Remind the customers that it’s going to be a limited time, and that you’re going to give them a sneak peek of something within the product that’s already been created.
Do this a couple more times within the week. I usually go with having three videos and three separate opportunities to opt-into the separate launch mailing list.
During the process, give your customers the feeling that they’re part of the process and that they’re doing something in return for you. Ask them to tweet and become involved, giving them the opportunity for higher and higher levels of engagement. By the time that you launch the product, they’re be eager for what you have.
Use your social channels to create anticipation and fervor. If you run a LinkedIn group, this makes a great time to talk to those people there. If you have a Facebook page, talk with those people. Everyone within your circle should know about the launch by the time that you press the start button.
To create the perfect sales funnel, you need to be fond of testing and retesting. Make sure that all of the links work. Make sure that you’ve gotten your lead captures in place.
Make sure that you take notes during the process so that you can correct it for the next launch.
Your Turn
How was your last product launch? What did your perfect sales funnel look like? Did you learn some lessons from it? I’d love to know.

Benefits
of a Website
With the advancement
of the modern era, it has become the need of professionals
to create their own website. It is beneficial in several
ways, some of which are given below:
When your website appears on the World Wide Web, it comes across a large number of concerned people and they can access it sitting at home via internet. Electronic media are very inexpensive and long lasting as compared to the press media. It gives you a chance to interact with your customers online at ease.
You can expand your business and introduce it on an international level beyond boundaries if you are having your website. There is no specific location that people will bother to visit and then, meet you. Simply through “Contact Us” details, they can keep in touch with you.
Apart from online shopping store, information or sales point of view, you can also advertise on the other websites, thus getting more number of users and higher profits.
A considerable benefit of creating a website is that you do not have to close your store at a specific time. It is live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and round the whole year. Anyone can visit your website at any time.
The customers can come to know about the selling items, quality, brand and samples of the product online. Even if they like your items, they can place an order online if your website is related to online shopping or e-commerce.
By your website, you get recognition and goodwill from your regular customers in the form of testimonials. Hence, it builds the trust of more and more people within a short duration.
When one website gets high traffic, you can build more websites and place the ad of your first website over there as well as on the free promotion platforms, hence, you get excellent results.
You can add the address of your office or shop point in the form of a map for the convenience of the buyers nearby. They can plan to meet you in person and visit after selecting their desired item.
Social media is a great source for you to promote your website through it. Online chat is very beneficial and easy feature for the visitors to ask the queries and give you suggestions promptly as well.
On the backend of your website, everything is in your own control. You can share your experience and business skills by creating your website. It is just a single click away from the approach of users.
If your website is well-optimized with sound ranking, your business will expand rapidly because there are many people who, at a time, enter their keywords in the search engine to satisfy their query and they reach you by finding the URL of your website on the first page.
Your website, indeed, covers the limitations
of longer delays and huge distances. The last but not
least advantage is that you can easily update and manage
your website from time to time. When your website appears on the World Wide Web, it comes across a large number of concerned people and they can access it sitting at home via internet. Facebook Turns 10! Have You Learned To Leverage It Yet?
Facebook Turns 10! Have You Learned To Leverage It Yet?
Can you believe it’s been ten years since a dorm room project at Stanford took off?Facebook, the social media platform that could, is now a $120 billion dollar company, and it’s not stopping there.
Analysts are expecting an excellent fourth quarter report from the company.
Yet the company isn’t resting on its laurels. Despite rumblings that younger teens are shying away from the service, a fifth of the planet has a Facebook account and 61% of them check it every single day.
That’s a huge advertising audience.
In 2011, Facebook decided to pivot away from PCs and started looking at smartphones and tablets. That gamble has paid off. More and more people are using their smartphones for net access rather than a traditional PC.
However, that has required Facebook to pivot their business into new realms.
Older versions of Facebook were meant to be open all the time. The smartphone environment doesn’t work that way.
Two big things to watch for
The two most important things to watch from the company this year are its new video ads and the applications coming from its Creative Labs division.
You may have noticed in your feed that people are able to post videos that automatically start playing (on mute) when you pass by. This was a test run for advertisers to do the same thing.
The hope is that Facebook will be able to offer television-like ads to a huge audience for a fraction of traditional television ad costs.
If you plan on using Facebook as part of your social media strategy, this is the year to really start getting into videos. From Facebook’s analysis, video is becoming more and more accepted in the main news feed.
Businesses than can leverage this will have an advantage. Already, entertainment companies are seeing a great response to this new ad form.
The applications are new ways of distributing Facebook over a mobile phone. Facebook is hoping that it can develop a suite of applications that people will keep moving between that will mimic the old way of viewing Facebook.
The first is Paper, a magazine-like view of your news feed along with curated content with some very interesting UI features. I haven’t tried it yet at the time this article was written, but it has been getting excellent reviews.
As PCs sales continue to slump and people continue to move toward smartphones and tablets, this means you’ll really need to get knowledge about how to work on the mobile web. Having mobile-ready landing pages and other mobile-friendly features on your business blogs will be key over the next few years.
If you don’t already have a responsive theme in place, get one!
In fact, there are several things you can do right now to improve your conversions in general. I want to share with you a video between my mentor, John Chow, and the CEO of LeadPages. It’s a free video, and well worth the time. Get a pen and paper to take some notes.
Also, if you’re just starting out and you’re wondering how to get started with a blogging business, I have a free video series about how to build up your first list.
Your Turn
Are you ready for Facebook’s changes? Do you have any strategies and tips on how to leverage Facebook Ads and videos? Tell me about it in the comments.
