The Worst Mistake New Bloggers Make

The Worst Mistake New Bloggers Make

Blogging Tips

I don’t know what it is, but my one-on-one consulting clients all start out believing that an Internet business is not a real business.
They don’t realize that they can make real money, achieve real financial security, and obtain peace of mind without going into someone else’s office every single day.
A blogging business without a plan in place is wasting time.
Because an Internet blogging entrepreneur (sometimes called a blogpreneur) doesn’t have to negotiate for land, purchase equipment, secure bank loans, and otherwise start their business thousands, even millions in debt, many believe that they are not real businessmen.
This misconception causes many profit bloggers to treat their blogging as a hobby, rather than a business. They don’t plan their blog, and as a result, they don’t make any money from that blog.
You get halfhearted results from a halfhearted effort.
On the other hand, if you take the time to really study your business and plan your products and services, leaving room for scalability and expansion, you infuse profitability into that blog.
That planning makes the difference between you and the 90% of bloggers who want to, yet fail to make a profit with their blogging.
Internet marketers and entrepreneurs will tell you that all you have to do is a couple of hours of work and then you’re suddenly raking in thousands of dollars a week. When have you actually known that to work for a business?
What I can tell you is that the longer you work, the faster you can fuel your business.
Your business requires a commitment
To run a successful Internet blogging business, you need to plan to run a business. If you decide to run headfirst into creating a blogging business, you’ll find that you might not receive all of the money that you were expecting.
You’ve got to put effort into it.
Plan for that effort and plan to make a commitment to your business. Even if you’re working at a full time job right now, tell yourself that you’re going to spend a certain amount of time on your blogging business every single day.
Make the commitment to yourself and to the business to do this for at least three months.
Planning the Business
Once you’ve made the decision to run your own Internet business, you’re ahead of a lot of people. Approaching this like a business means that you have to put in time and energy. You’ll also realize benefits last far longer than if you hadn’t taken the time to plan this out.
Before you go into business, answer these five questions:
Why do you want to go into business? – The answer to this question will take your business from being a pie-in-the-sky idea into being an actual, real business.
Your reason for bringing life to the business will craft the answers to the other questions.
To whom are you selling that product or service? – In order to make money from those products and services, there needs to be someone willing to purchase them.
Your products and services don’t have value until they’re sold.
What is your product or service? – Without products and services, you’re asking for people to give you money out of the goodness of their heart or appealing to their love of the human race. It’s not a business foundation.
Where are you selling your product or service? – You’re selling your products on the Internet, of course, but what is your main selling vehicle? Are you planning on selling your goods and services on Amazon?
Do you want it to be sold through your website? The product and the audience will determine the venue.
How are you telling your customers about your product or service?
Whether you’re standing on the street corner or running a multi-platform interactive marketing campaign, you still need to get out the message of your product or service.
These five questions are listed in order of importance. I believe that you should find a customer base, then find something to sell them rather than the other way around.
Many bloggers take more time to perfect their product without even realizing if they have a market for it, it’s crazy.
Your planning starts with a why, then goes to the what and then the how.
Once you’ve figured out the answers to these five important questions, you’re ready to start your Internet blogging business.
In the next post, I’m going to talk about the many ways you can use to find the purpose for your business.

How to Create An Authority Blog And Get People To Follow You

How to Create An Authority Blog And Get People To Follow You

Blogging_259x210

If you want to get plenty of traffic to help make money, you need to become an authority site. Not only does Google rank authority websites as being more valuable, but users find them more reputable as well. In order to become successful when you start your own blog, here are tips on how to create an authority blog and get people to follow you:
Research Everything
In order to succeed with online marketing, you need to have a plan in place. When you start your own blog, you need to best determine how to achieve your goals. To actually develop this plan, you will need to dedicate lots of time and effort into researching.
When researching, you need to:
• Research your niche. The first thing you need to do is determine what niche you want to target. By checking out the competition and buying power behind different topics within niches, you will set yourself up for better chances of achieving success. You will also learn plenty of information that you will be able to pass along to your audience to show off your expertise.
• Learn what people are searching for. If your goal is to make money (which, in all honesty, it very much is likely so), you will need to research keywords that people use. By checking out the keywords, you will be able to see exactly what people are buying and looking for. If you don’t see a whole lot of buying keywords for your niche, you may want to look elsewhere.
• Research your target audience. Researching your audience is very important when trying to make money off your blog. When researching, you will need to create a demographic profile for your ideal customer. With the information in hand, you will be able to craft your content more easily to target exactly the individuals that will be the most likely to buy from you.
Interact With Your Audience
One of the very best ways to establish yourself as an authority figure is to actually personally interact with your audience. By interacting with your audience through your blog or social media, you will nurture and build a strong following.
In order to effectively interact with your audience, keep the following points in mind:
• Encourage people to leave comments so that you can respond to them
• Promptly deal with complaints and inquiries as quickly as possible
• Create an online personality that people will naturally want to associate with
• Provide only your best content
• Use contests to generate excitement
• Share content from other people
• Thank your audience regularly
Provide Solutions to People’s Problems
People love people that make their lives easier. If you want to become an authority figure, effectively solving other people’s problems in a professional manner will help establish authority. Once people see that you know what you are talking about, it will be much easier for them to accept your help. By accepting your help, you will be able to generate a profit by selling the solutions they need.
There are a variety of different formats that you can use to provide solutions, such as:
• White papers
• eBooks
• Instructional videos
• Audiobooks and podcasts
• Articles
Network
Another way to create an authority blog and get people to follow you is to network with other people in your niche. By building strong working relationships with other niche experts, you may be able to get featured on their websites. If you get featured on other authority sites, you will quickly improve your own blog’s rank.
Networking with other niche experts will also allow for you to:
• Learn new tips and tricks
• Drive traffic to your blog
• Extend your reach to other audiences
• Potentially make use of other niche experts’ email lists
With these tips on how to create an authority blog and get people to follow you, it will be easier for you to get attention when you start your own blog. However, just remember that building credibility and a strong following takes lots of time and effort and that success typically does not happen overnight. When you know the right way on how to create a blog, you can really profit well online.

Why Don’t People Love Your Blog?

Why Don’t People Love Your Blog?

Crazy Baby Face

I’ve been there. It was seven years ago. I’d had a blog for about six months and people just weren’t coming. I’d heard that all I had to do to boost blog traffic was to create a blog and the visitors would magically appear. I’d put keywords into it, right?
So, I waited. And waited. And waited.
The people just weren’t coming!
I tried a lot of different tactics to increase blog traffic to my fledgling blog. I tried forum posts, autoresponder campaigns, videos, linking everything I could to social media accounts, even some “black-hat” SEO techniques.
Some things worked, and others much less so.
I tried system after system, hunting for the magic combination of marketing and technology that was supposed to unlock the ultimate secrets to increasing blog traffic. After all, I’d heard that more traffic meant more money.
I learned a lot, but I wasn’t getting the type of traffic that I had heard about.
I knew deep down that I could make money online so I decided to give it one more shot. I took everything that I had learned and studied what worked and what didn’t.
I tested everything, tweaked what I could, and it started working.
Visitors were trickling in to my site. As I did more, that trickle turned into a small stream. Then a river. Then a flood. I knew that of all the things out there, I’d discovered something special.
I had discovered how to get blog traffic.
A lot of people with great ideas quit writing in their blogs when they find out that blogging isn’t a fire and forget proposition. Google is littered with the remains of online businesses that never got off the groune, their owners discouraged. Do a search for anything, then the word blog – I bet you’ll find many of these starting with page six.
It’s sad if you think about it, because they just gave up.
What many new bloggers don’t realize is that there’s a system behind having people love your blog. If you want to make money with your blog then you have to treat that blog like a business. What you may not realize is that even though the platform changes, the rules of business don’t change when you move from offline to online.
There is one major difference: It is far easier to make an online business than a physical business.
As all these abandoned businesses show, ease of access does not mean ease of success! Here’s a rule of thumb: If your online blogging business isn’t advertiser interest or significant traffic within six months there is a serious problem with your business model.
The big problem that this ease of access has created is that there is far more competition now than there ever was in the physical world. Success in the online world is predicated on commanding the attention of other people.
It doesn’t matter if you have the best product on the market.
You could be selling the cure for cancer, but if no one can find you, you are invisible.
This is why SEO and Social Media Marketing are so important. However, they are just a part of the success story. Want to know the others?
The Pieces to a Successful Business
There are five core pieces to every successful business, online or offline. They all need to work together in order to make a business flourish. They are:
• Site Design
• Content
• Marketing
• Feedback
• Business Knowledge
If any one of these is missing, your business will be hampered severely. Lack two of them and you’ll fail. Let’s go through what each of these mean.
Site Design
Whether you want to sell something through your blog, or just want to get a popular following, everything starts with the site design. Marketing is the menu. Site design is the appetizer. That site design sets the mood for the whole meal.
If you know your web metrics, you might know a term called bounce rate.
It’s a measure of how quickly someone leaves a particular web page. In a nutshell, the bounce rate tells you how good or bad your content is. A high bounce rate means that your visitors are finding something unappealing about that page and leaving fast.
A bad website design will damage all your attempts to increase blog traffic. Avoid these errors:
• Poor site design (e.g. looks ugly, can’t find links, broken links, shopping cart interface has a bad design, downloads don’t work, etc.)
• Over-aggressive marketing tactics. What “over-aggressive” means will depend on your demographic. An example is a pop up as soon as a site is visited. You’d have to offer something of very high value to not annoy the visitor.
• Lack of valuable content. More on this below
It’s not as hard as it used to be. WordPress has thousands of free themes to choose from and thousands of professional ones as well. Take a few for a spin and see what’s out there.
Content
Content is the meat of every website. Without content, all the marketing and design in the world won’t keep the attention of your visitors. There’s really only one big key for making excellent content:
Write for your audience, and not for yourself, but while still being yourself.
Don’t know who your audience is? That’s a big problem if you’re running a business. That’s why market research is so important. Where is market research done on the internet? Social media websites. Don’t like social media? Unfortunately, you’re probably not going to succeed with your blog to any great level unless you engage with your audience where they hang out.
Also, if you have problems with spelling or grammar, then it’s time to consider a course in copywriting or hire someone who is able to write to your message.
Marketing
If you need a definition for marketing, it’s all the activities that you do to attract customers that don’t currently know or care about your business. Marketing also includes promotional activities for people that may already be familiar with your business.
There is a pervasive attitude of “if you build it, they will come” in online businesses that still hasn’t been uprooted yet. It is an extremely dangerous attitude to have. More savvy individuals may know about SEO and Social Media Marketing, but they cling to a different mantra. “If I’m on page one in the SERPs, they will come.”
This is a more accurate statement. Most people only look at the first three links in any Google search. According to a study done by Chitika, an online ad network:
• 91.5% of all clicked links in Google are from the first page. Only 4.8% are clicked from the second page. It gets much worse from there.
• The top link gets 32.5% of the clicks. The second gets 17.6%. The third gets 11.4%, and the fourth gets 8.1%.
That means that nearly 70% of all clicks in Google are done in the first four results.
However, what most businesses fail to realize is that it’s not just about targeting the proper keywords, collecting back links, having proper anchor text, and all the other nuts-and-bolts of SEO that pushes a site up to these levels. There has to be something of value on your website that make people want to come back to it again and tell others about what they’ve found. These create social indicators, and they’re very important. Google is increasingly using social indicators in their ranking algorithms.
They’re weighed almost as heavily as backlinks!
The overall goal of marketing is to get people to come to your website, boosting blog traffic. Therefore, your marketing must appeal to your target audience, and it must also communicate value to them. If you want people to give you attention, you must give them something they consider worthy of attention. Without attention, you’ll never make a sale.
Feedback
Once you get traffic, you have to keep the conversation going. Your customers are not going to be shy about praising or complaining about your business or your viewpoints. Gathering customer feedback allows you to change your content and marketing approaches to match what your customers want. This is another place where social media comes in.
Social media shines the best when it is used as a feedback tool.
Each social media website appeals to a different type of person and is suitable for different marketing opportunities. If you want to learn them, the best way is to jump in yourself and get involved. In a nutshell:
• Facebook: Mass-market appeal generation
• Twitter: B2C conversations
• LinkedIn: B2B conversations
• G+: People who want to build brands around an individual and people in IT.
Use social media to actively listen to and engage with your customers. Gary Vaynerchuk built a wine empire by going out onto Twitter and answering every question he could find about wine. He’s gone on to be one of the main role-models for learning intense social media interaction with an audience. If you can be just as aggressive in your own niche, you’ll see the results for yourself.
Business Knowledge
Since running a blog is running a business, having knowledge about running a business is a must. Business skills can be learned from courses, hiring a business manager, getting a mentor, or even reading business blogs. You may be at the point where you don’t yet know what you need to know – that’s where voracious reading comes in handy.
100% of the shots you don’t take, ,don’t score. You’re not going to get visitors coming to your blog by reading about the ways that blogs should work. It’s best to have a system in place and follow that system – one that adheres to the five business principles.
If you don’t, it will be like trying to get visitors to a lemonade stand that you set up in a deserted alley. To really get in the game, you have to attract attention, draw them in and get them to love you.
Your Turn
I know that there’s a lot of people out there who are overwhelmed with information about blogging. Are there any places where you’ve got questions? Are you wondering where to start? Do you have some tricks that you’d like to share? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.

How To Generate A Huge Email List The NPR Way

How To Generate A Huge Email List The NPR Way

Email Marketing

The key to many successful online entrepreneurs is to generate a huge email marketing list.
It’s not that hard, and it’s one of the best things you can do for your blog-based business.
An email marketing list gives you:
• A captive audience who knows and likes you
• A way to develop business relationships
• A way to start joint marketing ventures
• And more…
But how you do start getting the names in that list? One strategy is to see how charities do it. Charities generate billions of dollars each year, and they need a donor list just like you need an email marketing list.
National Public Radio (NPR) stations are experts at getting a list.
Even if you haven’t listened to public radio, you may be familiar with their pledge drives. Twice a year (though it feels like more some years), they hold a pledge drive where every member of the NPR family goes out and asks people for donations.
It’s not as different as selling goods through an email list as you might think. Many times a station will offer some sort of gift in exchange for your donation, but beyond the money they’re really after your name. They know that once they have your contact information, they can reach out to you again and likely get more.
The trick is to figure out how they get people to turn over their information and convert it to cash again and again.
As email marketers, we can all stand to learn a lot from NPR about developing an email list. Here’s where to begin.
1. Know what your audience wants
I would assume that you eventually want to get money from your list. In order to get that, you have to give your audience something they want. That means you must know what your audience tastes are.
Market research helps stations to know what is popular in their region, and they leverage that information to great effect. Make more money by knowing your audience. Build and expand your list by using market research and giving them something they might like.
The pitch that NPR has is that their money goes to pay for programming. No donors, no programming. No programming, no station.
People must love what NPR stations offer to give their money over twice a year. They find value in the station. Similarly, you have to be able to give something of value to your subscribers for their information. This can be a free report, like the a free ebook, exclusive offers, or anything that your audience would find valuable.
Incidentally, this also ties into my professional secrets video series. This video gives away my best tactics for learning about any audience, anywhere.
2. Generate a free or nearly-free product to entice them.
One tactic that stations use is to give away items in exchange for certain amounts of donations. NPR listeners get items with their local station logo or special NPR merchandise that can’t be found anywhere else.
You’ll need to find a similar product. At the very least, they will need to get a regular informative message, like a newsletter, regularly. Better still is a free and useful information product.
3. Tell them up front what they will be getting
Make sure that those who sign up to your email list know exactly what they will receive for their efforts. Let them know that with their email address, you will be sending the 2 emails a month and your freebie so that they can expect it. Remember, people love to be told what will happen.
If you’ve heard NPR pledge drives, you know they do this loud and often. You also need to make sure that your signup offer is very visible on the page. Some people even have a popup when people arrive to advertise their free e-book.
4. Provide many outlets to sign up
NPR provides many ways for people to donate and give their information over. You can wait for the pledge drive, of course, but you can also go to the website and pledge there anytime. You can even donate an old car or boat and have them sell it off for pledge money.
Similarly, you should have multiple ways for people to get onto your list. Lead generation pages, links in your posts, a free gift in exchange for email, anything. Figuring out how to opt into your list should be very obvious. This will help you rapidly build your email list.
5. Deliver What You Promise
NPR delivers exactly what they say that they will deliver. They’ve developed a reputation for walking the walk and talking the talk. If that trust wasn’t there, no one would donate.
The people on your list also trust you to deliver value. Yes, it’s true they want people to sign up to your campaign to generate that money-making list. However, if you want those customers to retain any value afterward, you have to give what you promised.
Developing an email list isn’t as hard as it seems. The list is about authenticity, trust, and delivering value as promised. We can take some great lessons from NPR.
They’ve been running their business off a list for decades.
Your Turn

Rising Star in Pakistan for Cyber Security & Research

Rising Star in Pakistan for Cyber Security & Research

Rising Star in Pakistan for Cyber Security & Research
Pakistani Star

Rafay Baloch is the founder/CEO of RHAinfosec, He runs one of the top security blogs in Pakistan with more than 25k+ subscribers and 100k+ Facebook fan. Rafay has helped major industrial giants such as Google, Facebook, twitter, paypal, adobe, apple etc to improve and secure their online presense. Rafay managed to find a Remote Code execution vulnerability inside paypal for which he was awarded 10,000$ and also was offered a job inside of Paypal as a security ninja.

Currently, the major area of Rafay's research are bypassing modern security defenses, HTML 5 and other client side javascript. Rafay holds CPTE, OSCP, CCNP Route, WAPT certifications. He also earned ECCS from Voice of Green Hats. Rafay's work has been featured in enormous amounts of articles, newspaper, magazines and local TV channels.

Q: What was your first finding? How did you felt at that moment?

I really don’t remember if it was my first finding, However as far as i can catch up my memory it was a SQL injection authentication bypass attack, at that time i really didn’t know why it worked but i felt really surprised at that time.

Q: You hunt bugs for what? Money, Fun, Fame or you want to make the Internet a safe place?

Well, honestly, Little of every thing, First of all, I don’t only hunt vulnerabilities on websites having bug bounty programs, I also report to websites that do not have them. Some to get listed in responsible disclosures and ofcourse to make the world a better place.

Q: Rafay, you have received a bug bounty of $10,000 from PayPal. What was the real story behind it?

It was a remote code execution vulnerability i found inside paypal, which allowed me to execute any commands on the server. For that Paypal rewarded me 10,000$.

Q: Why you didn’t accepted Job Offer from PayPal? I think that was a Golden Chance for you.

Well, I am in middle of my bachelors, therefore i think i did not accept that offer and honestly i am not in a favor of doing a job or working for something, i would rather prefer working with some one rather than working for some one. However, i still think i can avail it after my bachelors.

Q: Every one have someone who have inspired him. Who is your inspiration

Kevin Mitnick is definitely an inspiration for every one, his social engineering techniques were really amazing, he has shown a different approach towards hacking.

Q: Google and Facebook have also Paid you Bug Bounties, how you feel when you receive Bounties?

Bounties add an extra income to my pocket every month, however, i really feel lucky to receive bounties from so many companies.

Q: You are much Famous my bro, tell me on how many sites you are listed as a Security Researcher?

Alot, On linkedin profile i listed more than 50 websites who have listed me on their responsible disclosure/whitehats pages. However, there are lots of websites who do not have an acknowledgment list on their website, so they thanked me via an email or sometimes by sending a gift T-shirt, toolkit etc etc.
linkedin.com/in/rafaybaloch

Q: PKNIC is always been targeted my site was also down for some hours. What you recommend them to increase their Security?

The threat is on their web application level, which allowed the attacker to access it’s database, I remember, i saw a screen shot on a forum where it was vulnerable to SQL Injection attack, So i would recommend them to review their security policies and validate inputs properly to prevent any kind of these attacks in the future.

Q: If you don’t mind, can you tell me what courses are essential to do to become a successful Security Researcher?

Honestly speaking i never did any courses, nor i did any certifications though i have tought courses like CEH, CPTE to lots of people, but i never did any of these certifications, However, in terms of value i believe CEH, GPEN is at the top, in terms of knowledge i think CEH is only good for beginners, it’s just a catalog of tools, In terms of knowledge i would recommend any one to go after learn security (ecPPT), OSCP (Offensive security Certified Professional), ECCS (Executive Certificate in Cyber Security) by Voice of Green Hats and SANS gpen.

Q: What are your future plans. Would go for a job or start your own Company?

I would be launching my book "Ethical hacking and penetration Testing" this year inshA ALLAH, after that i 'll work on DOM based XSS wiki and something cool related to HTML 5.

Introduction to Server Virtualization Technology and Hypervisor Types

Introduction to Server Virtualization Technology and Hypervisor Types

Virtualization is the creation of a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as an operating system, a server, a storage device or network resources.
For those who are new to virtualization technology, this article will give you some high level fundamentals that will help you to get started on virtualization.

Three areas of Virtualization

The following are three high-level areas where virtualization could be done:
  1. Network virtualization is a method of combining available resources in a network by splitting up the available bandwidth into channels, each of which is independent from the others, and each of which can be assigned (or reassigned) to a particular server or device in real time. The idea is that virtualization disguises the true complexity of the network by separating it into manageable parts, much like your partitioned hard drive makes it easier to manage your files.
  2. Storage virtualization is the pooling of physical storage from multiple network storage devices into what appears to be a single storage device that is managed from a central console. Storage virtualization is commonly used in storage area networks (SANs).
  3. Server virtualization is the masking of server resources (including the number and identity of individual physical servers, processors, and operating systems) from server users. The intention is to spare the user from having to understand and manage complicated details of server resources while increasing resource sharing and utilization and maintaining the capacity to expand later.

System Virtualization: Hardware and Hypervisors

System virtualization is a technology often used to consolidate systems, workloads and operating environments by using a single physical system to create multiple virtual systems. One type of system virtualization is done through hardware partitioning, which divides a single physical server into partitions — where each partition is able to run an operating system.
A Hypervisor, which is also called as Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM) or virtualization manager is another technology at the heart of system virtualization. A hypervisor provides the underpinnings for virtualization management, which includes policy-based automation, virtual hard disk, life cycle management, live migration and real-time resource allocation. It’s the software program or part of the code in firmware that manages either multiple operating systems or multiple instances of the same operating system on a single computer system. The hypervisor’s job is to manage the system’s processor, memory and other resources to allocate what each operating system requires. Hypervisors provide the means to logically divide a single, physical server or blade, allowing multiple operating systems to run securely on the same CPU and increase the CPU utilization.
Where hardware partitioning allows for hardware consolidation, hypervisors allow for flexibility in how the virtual resources are defined and managed, making it a more-often used system consolidation solution.

Two Types of Hypervisors

Type 1 Hypervisors – Native or Bare-Metal Hypervisors run directly on the host’s hardware to control the hardware and to manage guest operating systems. A guest operating-system thus runs on another level above the hypervisor. The following figure shows one physical system with a type 1 hypervisor running directly on the system hardware, and three virtual systems using virtual resources provided by the hypervisor.
An example of Type 1 Hypervisor is VMware ESXi.
Hypervisor Type 1
Type 2 Hypervisors – Hosted  Hypervisors are those that run on a host operating system that provides virtualization services, such as I/O device support and memory management. Type 2 hypervisors are used mainly on client systems where efficiency is less critical, and are also commonly used for systems where support for a broad range of I/O devices is needed and can be provided by the host operating system. The following figure shows one physical system with a type 2 hypervisor running on a host operating system and three virtual systems using the virtual resources provided by the hypervisor.
An example of Type 2 Hypervisor is VMware workstation.
Hypervisor Type 2

What is Server Virtualization?

Server virtualization is a technology for partitioning one physical server into multiple virtual servers. Each of these virtual servers can run its own operating system and applications, and perform as if it is an individual server. This makes it possible, for example, to complete development using various operating systems on one physical server or to consolidate servers used by multiple business divisions.

Server Virtualization Features

The following are two high-level important features of server virtualization:
  1. It provides partitioning and isolation. i.e Resources of same physical server are shared by multiple VMs and are isolated from each other.
  2. It provides high availability. i.e Several physical servers can form a cluster for high availability. If one server goes down, all the VMs on that server will migrate to another physical server in the cluster.
  3. Virtualization Cluster

Primary Advantages of Server Virtualization

  1. Reduce number of servers: Partitioning and isolation, the characteristics of server virtualization, enable simple and safe server consolidation. Through consolidating, the number of physical servers can be greatly reduced. This alone brings benefits such as reduced floor space, power consumption and air conditioning costs. However, it is essential to note that even though the number of physical servers is greatly reduced, the number of virtual servers to be managed does not change. Therefore, when virtualizing servers, installation of operation management tools for efficient server management is recommended.
  2. Reduce TCO: Server consolidation with virtualization reduces costs of hardware, maintenance, power, and air conditioning. In addition, it lowers the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by increasing the efficiency of server resources and operational changes, as well as virtualization-specific features. As a result of today’s improved server CPU performance, a few servers have high resource-usage rates but most are often underutilized. Virtualization can eliminate such ineffective use of CPU resources, plus optimize resources throughout the server environment. Furthermore, because servers managed by each business division’s staff can be centrally managed by a single administrator, operation management costs can be greatly reduced.
  3. Improve availability and business continuity: One beneficial feature of virtualized servers not available in physical server environments is live migration. With live migration, virtual servers can be migrated to another physical server for tasks such as performing maintenance on the physical servers without shutting them down. Thus there is no impact on the end user. Another great advantage of virtualization technology is that its encapsulation and hardware-independence features enhance availability and business continuity.
  4. Increase efficiency for development and test environments: At system development sites, servers are often used inefficiently. When different physical servers are used by each business division’s development team, the number of servers can easily increase. Conversely, when physical servers are shared by teams, reconfiguring development and test environments can be time and labor consuming. Such issues can be resolved by using server virtualization to simultaneously run various operating system environments on one physical server, thereby enabling concurrent development and test of multiple environments.
